Dale began working with databases in the early 1980s using dBase, Paradox and other early database software for IBM compatible personal computers. As PC capabilities increased, he transitioned into more recent systems such as MySQL, MariaDB and PostgreSQL.
He received an opportunity to become employed as a database administrator (DBA) at Sutter North Medical Foundation in Marysville, California, working there on a mini-computer business system. Later he became employed by a contractor for the U. S. Energy Department as a DBA and system administrator.
After retiring from government employment, Dale secured a position as a contractor with the Texas A & M Electrical Engineering Department as a DBA working with MySQL systems.
